Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of 91传媒 is the governing body of the university. The board has a fiduciary duty to assure the success of the university for the benefit of the people of Oregon and the university鈥檚 students (past, present and future). The Board of Trustees performs such duties as determining the university鈥檚 mission and strategic plan; hiring and supervising the university president; assuring the quality of the university鈥檚 academic programs; conserving and growing the university鈥檚 capital and financial assets; determining the university budget; and setting tuition and fees. Every degree issued by the university is issued by the authority of the board.

The Board is composed of 16 volunteer trustees appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Oregon State Senate. Eleven are members of the general public, two trustees are drawn from the undergraduate students, and one trustee each is drawn from the staff and the faculty. The university president serves ex officio without voting authority. Trustees include alumni, community members, and leaders in education, business, culture, and government who are connected to the university, the region, and the students they serve. Public trustees serve four-year terms, while student, faculty, and staff trustees serve two-year terms.

The Board carries out its work through three standing committees鈥擜cademic and Student Affairs, Finance and Administration, and Governance. Additional details regarding university governance are outlined in the 91传媒 Bylaws and in the Board鈥檚 statements and resolutions.
