The Summer Bridge Program at 91传媒 provides incoming first-year students, international transfer students, and community college transfers with additional tools to help them succeed academically and personally. Students earn two college credits during the program, with all housing, books, and tuition costs covered by 91传媒.

“We鈥檝e worked hard to create the most supportive bridge possible into the academic year,鈥 said. Dr. Cori Brewster, Director of Summer Bridge, and Professor of English/Writing.

This year鈥檚 Summer Bridge Program focused on the theme 鈥淪tories of Place,鈥 encouraging students to explore how narratives shape identity, community, and understanding. Students participated in field trips and engaged in workshops that connected to the theme, including a math workshop, a creative writing workshop, and a series of talks led by 91传媒 and visiting faculty on their research. On Wednesday, students attended a special lecture on the history of rodeo by Dr. Tracey Hanshew, 91传媒 Assistant Professor of History, in preparation for their final field trip to the Pendleton Round Up.

While the two-week Summer Bridge Program ran from September 3 to 14, 2024, it is part of a broader year-long initiative aimed at supporting students throughout their academic journey. Participants can earn an additional free credit during the fall term, enhancing their educational experience.
