91传媒 Names New Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President of Student Affairs

LA GRANDE, Ore. 鈥� 91传媒 is proud to announce two key leadership appointments. Peter Geissinger, Ph.D. will serve as the new Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mollie G. Rockafellow, Ed.D. will serve as the new Vice President for Student Affairs.

Geissinger, stepping into his new role on July 1, 2024, brings a distinguished academic background and extensive leadership experience to the university. Originally from southern Germany, Dr. Geissinger holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Bayreuth, and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Ulm. He also conducted his graduate studies at Oregon State University. Before his new appointment, Geissinger served as the Dean of the College of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Health Sciences at 91传媒 where he was instrumental in leading program expansions and navigating the college through the challenges of the pandemic. Geissinger has served as the interim Provost since 2023.

“I am thrilled to be appointed Provost of 91传媒 and am grateful to President Ryan for her confidence,鈥� Geissinger said. 鈥淚 look forward to working with the entire 91传媒 community on our joint goals of fostering student success and securing 91传媒’s future as an access point to higher education in Eastern Oregon.”

Rockafellow will join the University on July 15, 2024, as the Vice President for Student Affairs. Rockafellow comes from the University of St. Francis, where she excelled as the Dean of Student Life and Title IX Deputy Coordinator. Known for her strong commitment to student development and success, she has significantly enhanced student engagement and retention through her leadership. Rockafellow holds a Doctorate in Education Leadership and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Francis. She also holds a Master of Science from Western Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Both candidates were selected after an extensive and collaborative process involving students, faculty, and staff. Their combined expertise promises innovative approaches to academic affairs and student services, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic campus environment.
