91传媒 Hosts Successful Career Expo Connecting Students with Local Employers and Opportunities

LA GRANDE, Ore. 鈥� Hundreds of student and community job-seekers came to 91传媒 (91传媒) on Wednesday, April 3, to connect with local, regional, and national employers about employment opportunities.

鈥淲e are appreciative of the employer’s energy and engagement with the students and community members. We are grateful for the on-the-spot resume review and job search clinics offered by the local WorkSource Oregon team,鈥� Career Development Coordinator Shawna Elsberry said. 鈥淭he Eastern Oregon Workforce Board did an outstanding job of bringing a record number of employers together for this centrally located annual event serving Eastern Oregon. We also had a cheerful group of staff and OSU/EOU student ambassador volunteers, including a dedicated events crew.鈥�

The regionally focused event, managed by the Eastern Oregon Workforce Board provided a venue for local and regional employers to gain access to students and community members looking for employment opportunities, including part-time, seasonal, internships, and career positions.

Long-Term Care Careers Program Manager Julie Guenette, with Oregon Care Careers, said the Expo provides employers with opportunities to share information about careers with students. 鈥淲e need a strong workforce,鈥� Guenette said. 鈥淲e are tasked with rebuilding the workforce in elderly care careers following the pandemic, job fairs, like this one, allow us to create interest in a career in health care.鈥�

During the Expo, employers showcased their companies and career opportunities in health care, fire management, law enforcement, and more. 

鈥淲e are proud to provide a resource for hundreds of students and community job-seekers in eastern Oregon. We all take immense pride in connecting these two groups to create opportunities for success,鈥� Elsberry said.
