Meeting with a Writing Tutor

The Writing Center offers several options for working with a writing tutor:

In-Person 91传媒 Writing Tutors

Writing tutors are available to work with students during Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters in the 91传媒 Writing Center, located in Loso Hall 234. Scheduled appointments are available at various times throughout the week, from Week 1 through the Friday before finals week. Drop-In tutoring is also available, providing students with additional opportunities to work with writing tutors during daytime and evening hours.

Synchronous Online 91传媒 Writing Tutors

The 91传媒 Writing Center provides synchronous online tutoring for both on campus students and completely online students. Sign up for an appointment and select the remote access option. At the designated time, an 91传媒 Writing Tutor will meet with you for your tutoring session via video conference.

Asynchronous Online Writing Tutors

The 91传媒 Writing Center also offers , which is the preferred method of tutoring for online 91传媒 students. For 91传媒 students who are unable to meet with a tutor on campus or remotely via video conferencing, asynchronous is available.

For Graduate Students Only

Graduate students who are interested in scheduling a tutorial online can submit a paper to eTutoring or contact the Writing Center Director at srysdam@eou.edu for special arrangements.

Additional Writing Support

Group writing tutoring with an 91传媒 writing tutor may be available to 91传媒 students by special arrangement. For addition support, contact the Writing Tutor Coordinator, Ryan Scariano at rscariano@eou.edu

Client Report Form / 鈥淏lue Slip鈥�

Any student who works with a writing tutor through the 91传媒 Writing Center can request a proof of session from their tutor. This is called a 鈥淐lient Report Form鈥� or a Blue Slip. from their writing tutor. These forms can be given to an instructor as proof that the student worked with a writing tutor.

What Writing Tutors Do

Writing Tutors will give you feedback on:

interpreting assignment prompts
reading through drafts
thesis, focus, and audience
organization
development
using and documenting sources
finding writing resources
reading assigned texts
writing in any discipline
identifying and correcting patterns of error
writing accountability to complete short assignments and readings

Writing Tutors will not:

edit (instead they help writers edit their own work)
correct (they are not the course instructor)
proofread (they will guide you in proofreading your draft)
rewrite your paper

Things students sometimes bring to writing tutor appointments:

a draft of your writing/project (if you have a draft)
the assignment prompt (if possible)
an outline (if you have one)
an assigned reading
your ideas (especially if you haven鈥檛 completed a draft yet)

Oftentimes writing tutors work with students and their writing in draft form. However, writing tutors can help support students at any point in the writing process, from reading through the assignment prompt to generating ideas for writing and creating outlines.

How to find a Math Tutor, Group Study, or Individual Session
