91传媒 Academic Advisors (On-Campus, Online, Faculty) work in a collaborative spirit with students, guiding them in defining and implementing sound educational plans that are consistent with their personal values, goals, and career objectives leading to responsible and reflective action in a diverse and interconnected world. Academic advising provides systematic student inquiry, from matriculation to graduation, for a diverse population of students, both online and on-campus.
91传媒鈥檚 academic advising is guided by CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards) Program Standards (Part 7: Diversity, Equity, and Access) that state advising programs and services:
(a) “must not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, abilities/disabilities, age, cultural identity, family educational history (e.g., first generation college), language, religion, nationality, socio economic or veteran status, or any other basis included in institutional policies, codes, and laws;
(b) must create and maintain educational and work environments that are welcoming, accessible, and inclusive to persons of diverse backgrounds, equitable and non-discriminatory, and free from harassment.”
Upon admission to 91传媒, each student is assigned to an Academic Advisor who will then assist in planning their academic program and help select the courses needed to achieve the student鈥檚 goals. The Academic Advisor serves as the coordinator of a student鈥檚 educational experience at 91传媒. While certain populations of students may be required to have an Academic Advisor鈥檚 approval prior to registration, all students are strongly encouraged to make an appointment with their Academic Advisor at any time to discuss their academic program, seek other kinds of assistance, or ask questions. Although an Academic Advisor may not be able to solve all problems or answer all questions, they can refer students to other resources.
Providing academic assistance and individualized attention, Academic Advisors share knowledge and experience that benefit each student as they realize their educational and career goals. The Advisor will:
-encourage student self-efficiency
-be accessible and responsive to students
-provide current and accurate advising information
-utilize advising tools and resources for academic planning
-educate about and refer students to institutional services
Being provided with information and advising assistance, students are then empowered to explore academic, career and personal goals as they navigate their 91传媒 journey. The Student will:
-seek advising from appropriate advisors at appropriate times
-learn relevant academic program requirements
-utilize 91传媒 resources to monitor their academic progress
-take responsibility for actions and decisions that affect academic progress
